Process your Captures

The Captures page is a triage queue, not a second notification inbox. It contains content you intentionally saved or received through a capture channel. Reminders, workflow reports, sync events, and other notifications live under the bell instead.

The Lar Captures destination showing the New and Done review queue.
Captured material stays in this dedicated triage surface until you convert, archive, or dismiss it.
  1. Select Captures in the sidebar.
  2. Use New for pending items or Done for items you archived or dismissed.
  3. Use the source filter in the header to show items from one available channel, such as Quick capture, Clipboard, Share sheet, AI agent, or a named integration.

Each card shows its source, arrival time, title, a short preview, and any media or workflow suggestions. Select a card to open its full preview in the side panel, including content, attachments, provenance, and conversion controls.

Conversion changes the existing capture in place. Its identity, body, backlinks, attachments, and history stay with it; Lar does not create a disconnected copy.

From a card:

  1. Point to the capture and select Convert.
  2. Choose the destination Type.
  3. Lar converts the item and opens it so you can finish its properties and body.

For more detail before converting:

  1. Open the capture.
  2. In the side panel, find Convert to….
  3. Choose a Type.
  4. Review the mapping preview showing which captured values will fill which fields.
  5. Select Convert.

Required properties that cannot be filled automatically are left for you to complete in the Object editor.

A workflow in Suggest mode adds a suggestion chip instead of changing the item automatically.

  • Select the suggestion to accept it and run the workflow.
  • Select Adjust to choose or review the proposed conversion before accepting it.
  • Select Decline to leave the capture unchanged without running the workflow.
  • From the suggestion menu, choose Don’t suggest for source to suppress that workflow’s suggestions for the current capture source.

AI steps do not run merely to display a suggestion. They run only after you accept, at which point normal AI consent rules apply.

  1. Open the capture’s options menu.
  2. Select Send to Daily Note.

Lar appends the capture’s available title, text, and URL to today’s Daily Note as paragraphs, then marks the capture processed. The source item remains available as an Object and retains its provenance.

You can also select multiple captures and use Send to Daily Note from the selection bar.

Select Archive when the item is useful as it is and needs no further triage. Archiving marks it processed and moves it from New to Done; it does not delete the Object.

Use the selection checkboxes and the selection bar to archive several items at once.

Select the capture’s options menu, then choose Dismiss when you do not want to keep it in the active queue.

For a raw capture, dismissing also moves the Object to Trash. This is recoverable: the Done tab retains the triage record and offers Restore, and the normal Trash view can restore soft-deleted Objects.

  1. Open Captures and select Done.
  2. Find the item.
  3. Select Restore.

The item returns to New. If it was soft-deleted when dismissed, restoring also removes it from Trash.

  1. Select the checkbox on each card. Use Shift-click when you want a contiguous range.
  2. Choose Send to Daily Note, Archive, or Dismiss from the selection bar.
  3. Clear the selection when finished.

Bulk actions apply the same semantics as their single-item versions. In particular, bulk dismiss can move multiple raw captures to Trash.
