Sharing an Object
Private sharing is for ongoing collaboration with another Lar account. It shares one Object—not the rest of your workspace—and continues syncing later changes.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Sign in to the account associated with your configured Cloud or self-hosted server.
- Make sure the workspace is connected to that server.
- Open the Object you want to share.
Invite someone
Section titled “Invite someone”- Choose Share from the Object actions.
- Stay on the People tab.
- Create an invitation for the recipient.
- Choose Can edit for a collaborator or Can view for a read-only participant.
- Send the generated invitation through a channel you trust.
After the recipient redeems it, the Object appears in Shared → Shared with me. Owners can review outgoing shares under Shared by me.
What is included
Section titled “What is included”The Object’s properties, relations, and body are shared as independently encrypted documents. Sharing does not automatically grant access to every related Object. A reference to an unshared Object may therefore be visible as a reference without making the target readable.
Collaboration
Section titled “Collaboration”Connected participants can see encrypted presence and remote cursors. Comments belong to the Object and sync with its content. Temporary cursor/awareness state is not persisted.
Change or remove access
Section titled “Change or remove access”An owner can change a participant’s role or revoke access from Share → People. Revocation rotates future read access: the removed participant cannot decrypt later updates. It cannot erase content that already reached that participant’s device or copies they made.
Manage shared Objects
Section titled “Manage shared Objects”The Shared destination contains:
- Shared with me — Objects other people shared with your account in this workspace.
- Shared by me — private shares you own.
- Published by me — web publication snapshots you created.
These records synchronize end-to-end encrypted between devices enrolled in the same account. An offline device shows its last local state and converges after workspace sync reconnects. Opening the shared Object on another device also requires that device to have received the materialized Object through workspace sync; direct participation in the external owner’s collaboration room remains governed by its verified per-device key epoch.
Share or publish?
Section titled “Share or publish?”Use People when recipients have Lar accounts and need ongoing updates. Use Publish to web for a read-only snapshot accessible through a complete publication URL. See Publish to the web.
